Abdominal Tuberculosis in Pregnancy: A Case Report

Summary: Abdominal tuberculosis is a rare form of extra-pulmonary tuberculosis. It presents with nonspecific symptoms making diagnosis and management challenging. It becomes even more challenging when it occurs in pregnancy with potential for adverse maternal and fetal outcome. We report a case of a 28 year old pregnant woman who presented with painful umbilical hernia initially diagnosed as an incarcerated umbilical hernia, but found to have abdominal tuberculosis. which was successfully managed with good maternal and fetal outcome.

This study examines the prevalence of hypertension and associated risk factors among adults aged 18–65 years in Lagos State, Nigeria. A cross-sectional study design was employed, recruiting 1,240 participants. Findings indicate an overall prevalence of 34.2%, with significant associations with age, obesity, and sedentary lifestyle.
